Blues beat Blackhawks 5-1

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Oskar Sundqvist had a goal and an assist, and the St. Louis Blues beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-1. David Perron, Dakota Joshua, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Jordan Kyrou also scored for the Blues, who are 6-0-2 in their last eight games against the Blackhawks. Ville Husso made 15 saves. Dylan Strome scored and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 26 shots for the Blackhawks, who lost for the fourth time in their last five games.

Elsewhere on NHL ice:

— There’s a lot of pressure on Boston Bruins netminder Jeremy Swayman after Tuukka (TOO’-kah) Rask decided to retire earlier this week. Swayman came through in a big way as the second-year player stopped 30 shots in the Bruins’ 2-0 win over the Senators. It was his second shutout of the season and fourth of his career, helping Boston improve to 1-1 while Brad Marchand serves a six-game suspension for hauling down Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry. Trent Frederic and Curtis Lazar scored for Boston.

— Kevin Fiala (fee-AH’-lah) and Frederick Gaudreau (gah-DROH’) each had a goal and an assist for Wild, leading a 3-2 win over the Hurricanes. Kirill Kaprizov (kah-REEL’ kah-PREE’-zahf) also scored and Cam Talbot made 37 saves for the Wild, who are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games.

— Blake Wheeler scored two goals and assisted on three others to lead the Jets to a 5-2 victory over the Predators. Mark Scheifele had a goal and two assists to back Connor Hellebuyck (HEH’-leh-buhk), who made 34 saves.

— Rookie Moritz Seider scored a big power-play goal in the third period as Detroit won for the third time in four games, 4-2 versus Philadelphia. Thomas Greiss (grys) handled 32 shots to help the Red Wings beat the Flyers for the second time in a week.

— The Blue Jackets beat the Canadiens, 2-1 on Patrik Laine’s (LY’-nayz) power-play goal with eight seconds remaining. Oliver Bjorkstad scored 76 seconds into the game and Elvis Merzlikins made 30 saves as Columbus win its fifth straight game.

— Adam Ruzicka (roo-ZEETS’-kah) had a goal and an assist as the Flames whipped the sputtering Islanders, 5-2. Andrew Mangiapane (MAHN’-jah-PAN’-ee), Elias (eh-LEE’-uhs) Lindholm, Erik Gudbranson, and Christopher Tanev (TAN’-ehv) also scored, and Johnny Gaudreau had two assists for Calgary.

— Thatcher Demko had a career-high 51 saves as the Canucks beat the Maple Leafs, 3-2. J.T. Miller had a goal and an assist, and Brock Boeser (BEH’-sur) and Juno Lammikko also scored for the winners.
