The IHSA girls soccer sectionals opened yesterday. In 1a, at Columbia, the home standing Lady Eagles and Murphysboro were scoreless after regulation, but in overtime the Eagles scored 3 times to win 3-1. Columbia will move on to the Sectional Finals on Friday when they play top-seed Father McGivney after they eliminated Freeburg 6-0.
At Litchfield, Alton Marquette shutout Greenville 7-0 and Litchfield nipped Civic Memorial 3-2.
The 2a Sectionals at Alton will be played tonight with Waterloo and Glenwood followed by Triad and Springfield.
In 3a, Edwardsville beat O’Fallon 1-0 to advance to the Normal Sectional Finals against Peoria Notre Dame after their 5-0 win over East Moline United.
