Remembering Pearl Harbor
Provided by MidAmerica Financial Resources
In Hawaii, among the verdant natural beauty and warm and welcoming waters, there stands a monument. The Pearl Harbor National Memorial marks the destruction of the U.S.S. Arizona, the final resting place of 1,102 soldiers who lost their lives on “the day that shall live in infamy.” A total of 2,403 service members and civilians died in the attack. Pearl Harbor Day commemorates their sacrifice and the entry of the United States into the Second World War.1
This year finds us in a much different world. It is in the calm of peace that we can reflect on those lives dedicated to service and their sacrifice. We can also pay our respects. National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is being marked today as survivors, veterans, and their families commemorate the anniversary.
We would like to thank all those who sacrificed and who are sacrificing today as we remember Pearl Harbor Day.
