Patoka School Superintendent David Rademacher says the district was made aware of a possible threat of violence by a student in the district.   The Marion County Sheriff’s Department was contacted about the situation.

Rademacher, in a message to parents in the district on Friday, said it was determined that students and staff are not in any immediate danger.   he notes student and staff safety is their top priority, so they will continue to monitor the situation out of an abundance of caution.

Rademacher says the student who made the threat has been identified and is being dealt with through the disciplinary process of the school.  He reports no further details about the incident because of student privacy laws.

Rademacher is thanking the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and everyone who had a party in quickly resolving the situation.

Rademacher said the purpose of the message was to open communication with the school community and dispel any rumors or myths about the situation.

Several area school districts used their school reach programs to address TikTok posts referencing violence that raised anxiety at schools across the nation.  TikTok has said it is working with law enforcement to look into the warnings.
