Salem Township Hospital CEO Jim Timpe says the hospital had a good first quarter. He reviewed the hospital’s financial numbers at this week’s board meeting.
“For our first quarter of the year we are right on budget, actually a little bit above, so we are happy about that. We have also seen great volumes at the hospital, taking care of lots of people. Good outcomes for our first quarter.”
Timpe says $226,000 in charity care was provided to those who could not afford their bills. He said the hospital is continuing to make a financial advisor available to those having difficulty paying their medical bills to see if a payment plan can be worked out.
The board was also told the American Heart Association has completed a review of the hospital with positive results.
“Every couple of years they do our inspection. They look at our records and because of our quality scores we moved up from a bronze level award to a silver level award this year. Which means we are doing great care.”
Timpe announced the wound care clinic would begin on September 21st and would be held every Monday for those with wounds that don't want to close. He reports the hospital staff will begin training to offer a couvenin clinic starting this fall. It will assist those who have to take the blood thinning drug.
