The candidates for the final open seat on the Salem Community High School and Centralia High School Board hold a slim lead in unofficial vote tallies.

In the Salem High School race, Elisa Hourigan went up three votes over incumbent Michael McKinzie for the fourth open board seat, thanks to three votes received in the small section of the district in Jefferson County.    The current unofficial results in the race show Eric Bandy winning a seat with 1,181 votes, Marla Tolliver receiving 1,113 votes, and Robert Easley 1,061 votes.  Hourigan currently has 950 votes and Michael McKinzie 947.  There were three votes apiece cast in Jefferson County for Hourigan and Easley.   The results could still change once provision votes and any late-arriving votes by mail ballots are received.

The Centralia High School Board race was also extremely tight.  With unofficial results from Marion, Clinton, Washington, and Jefferson Counties, Lance Marcum was the top vote-getter with 986 votes.  Michael Sutherland was second with 890 votes and Tyson Coffee third with 831 votes.  However, Coffee is only six votes ahead of Adam Feig, who has 825 votes.

In another contested school board race, there were five candidates for four seats on the South Central School Board.  With results from Marion and Fayette Counties, the top vote-getter was Jeremy Chasteen with 559 votes,.  Derek Storck won a seat with 516 votes, Louis Daugherty Junior with 515 votes, and Lindsey Norman with 494 votes.  Not winning a seat was Brian Reid, who finished with 404 votes.

In the Raccoon Grade School District, the four winning candidates were Andrew Richardson with 144 votes, Amanda Carpenter with 120, Steven Bradley with 99, and Rebecca Ray with 95.  Leeann Schaeffer finished nine votes behind with 96, not enough to gain a seat.
