A 49-year-old Jefferson City, Missouri woman has been arrested for resisting arrest as well as outstanding warrants when fleeing police Wednesday night.

Salem Police say they initially tried to get Mary Nevels to exit the vehicle when it was found parked at a home in the 300 block of North Pearl because they knew she was wanted on a warrant.  She reportedly locked the doors, moved into the driver’s seat, and then drove off.  Police report in the process she struck another vehicle in the driveway.  Salem Police suspended the pursuit because Nevels was not wanted for a felony.  Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies then attempted to stop Nevels on the Selmaville Road but she refused to stop.  Eventually, she was boxed in by sheriff’s deputies, Central City Police, and Centralia Police when she reached Central City.  State Police also assisted.

Nevels was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail for alleged resisting arrest and on outstanding Marion and Clinton County felony warrants.  The bond on the Clinton County warrant is $10,000.  The bond on the Marion County warrant is $5,000.
