COVID-19 cases drop, all congregate care facilities no longer on outbreak status

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says for the first time in months there are no congregate care facilities in outbreak status.    She also reports the county has gone another week with no COVID-19-related deaths.

All area counties are now at the low level for community transmission according to the CDC tracker.

In Marion County, there were just eight new or probable cases, a drop of 66 percent for the prior week ending on Wednesday.    There were no new hospitalizations.

In Clinton County, the number of new cases dropped 35% to just 13.   There were two new hospitalizations.

In Jefferson County, the number of new cases fell 34-percent to 27 cases.  There were two new hospitalizations.

Washington County had just four new and probable causes and no confirmed hospitalizations.

In Fayette County, cases dropped 23 percent to just ten with no new confirmed

Clay County has three new casts, a drop of 94 percent and one new hospitalization.

Wayne County saw its number of cases double to eight with one new confirmed hospitalization.

Statewide, there were 8,560 new cases and 39 deaths in the week ending March 19th.  There are 12 counties at an elevated level, all at the medium level.

As of Thursday night, 810 individuals in Illinois are reported in the hospital with COVID-19.  94 are in the ICU and 34 on ventilators.
