A 31-year-old Iuka man was injured in an early Friday morning crash on US 50 near Peach Tree Road east of Salem.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies say Shane Procise was eastbound when he swerved to avoid a deer, ran off one side of the road, crossed the pavement, and came to a stop overturned in a ditch on the other side of the road.
The Salem 911 Dispatch Center was alerted by a device in the car and later confirmed by a passerby.
Procise had reportedly gotten out of the car on his own before emergency help arrived from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Salem Fire Protection District, and United Medical Response.
He was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred at 4:18 Friday morning.
