The Centralia City Council Monday night is being asked to declare 14 more homes as derelict and requesting permission to demolish them.

The homes are at 862 East Broadway, 903 Howard, 903 North Beech, 335 and 201 North Walnut, 1001 Dover, 524 and 614 South Elm, 528 South Maple, 515 West 6th, 932 Cormick, 737 North Poplar, 529 South Sycamore and 1021 South Elm.   Money for the demolition will come from the 2023 budget in the Community Development Demolition Fund.

The council will be asked to pass an ordinance approving the donation of a vacant lot at 330 Melrose to Centralia High School for the school’s construction class to construct a new home.   An attempt to sell the lot earlier failed.

The council will be asked to approve as surplus five other lots where homes were previously torn down so they can be sold to the highest bidder.  They are at 215 West 3rd, 908 North Elm, 614 to 614 and a half South Pine, 615 North Lincoln, and 825 East Rexford.

The council will consider approval of a $110,218 bid from T and L Contracting for sidewalk and street restoration on North Poplar from Rhodes to East McCord.

A bid for a dump truck for the water department at a cost of $58,500 from Parks Industries, LLC is also on the agenda.

The council will recognize Fire Lieutenant Robert Smith, Junior on his retirement after 27 years on the department.

The meeting gets underway at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
