The Marion County Board will remain 100 percent Republican as three Democrats failed to win the election on Tuesday. The Republican candidates for sheriff, clerk, and treasurer were all running unopposed. While Democrats swept all the statewide offices, Marion County was heavily behind all the Republican candidates.
The entire Marion County Board was up for election due to redistricting following the US Census.
In District 1 contested board race, Brock Waggoner was top vote-getting with 2,180 votes. Sharon Woodward finished with 2,013 and Tracy Lamont Murray with 1,967. The lone Democrat challenger Jon Meador finished with just 678 votes.
In District 3, Steve Whritenour was the top vote-getter with 1,792 votes, Bill Henson second with 1,611, and Tyson McHenry third with 1,488. Democrat Carrie Perkins-Schnicker finished with just 706 votes.
In District 5, Board Chair Debbie Smith was the top vote-getter with 1,413 votes. Adam Smith finished with 1,276 and David Iossi was third with 1,147 votes. Democrat Elodie Welta finished with just 621 votes.
In District 2, Creighton Engel with 2,301 votes, Jackie (Jack) Riley with 1,919 votes, and Deborah Reed with 1,909 votes were elected without opposition.
In District 4, all three Republican incumbents were re-elected led by Steven Bradley with 1,906 votes, Christopher Krupp with 1,507 votes, and Judith Meeks-Hakim with 1,435 votes.
