The weekly CDC tracker shows Marion County with 17 new COVID-19 cases and two new hospitalizations for the week ending Thursday. The number of new or probable cases is up 21 percent from the prior week. The county remains at the low level for COVID transmission.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reported no additional COVID-19 deaths during the week. The number of congregate care facilities on outbreak status has dropped from six to four. One of the facilities has 23 positives, another 12, and the other two had three positives apiece.
Two area counties are at the medium transmission level. Jefferson County had 50 new cases, a 39-percent increase, and four new hospitalizations. Wayne County had 14 new cases, a 100-percent increase, and two new hospitalizations.
Clinton, Washington, Fayette, and Clay Counties all remain at the low transmission level. Clinton County had 20 new cases, a five percent increase, and two new hospitalizations. Washington County had 15 new cases, a 114-percent increase, and one new hospitalization. Fayette County had 31 new cases, a 94-percent increase, and one new hospitalization. Clay County had 14 new cases, a 40-percent increase, and no new hospitalizations.
The CDC has released data showing 38 of Illinois’s 102 counties are at an elevated community level for COVID-19 compared to 26 counties last week. Five counties are rated at the high level and 33 at the medium level. The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 13,642 confirmed and probable cases and 67 deaths since October 21st.
As of Thursday night, 1,080 individuals were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 129 patients were in the ICU and 48 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
