Bond was set at $100,000 in Marion County Court on Friday for a 51-year-old Centralia man who was formally charged with a Class X offense of armed violence and three other felonies in the aftermath of a high-risk search warrant executed on his home.
David Hopper of the 1000 block of South Elm is accused in the armed violence charge of having a .380 handgun while in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. If found guilty, the charge requires a minimum ten-year prison term.
Hopper was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and ammunition by a felon. If convicted, each charge carries a mandatory two to a ten-year prison term. Hopper is also charged with possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine.
The public defender was appointed to represent Hopper who is due back in court on October 18th for a preliminary hearing.
The Centralia and ILEAS high-risk teams were both called in to execute the search warrant on Hopper’s home last Wednesday morning.
