A Sandoval man remains hospitalized in Springfield, Illinois, after being struck by a car twice during a Sunday night domestic dispute.

26-year-old Brynt Long says the first time he was hit, one of his legs was run over and broken in two places.  He was trying to move out of the car’s way when the driver reportedly hit the gas and drove toward him.  After his leg was struck, Long says he fell to the ground, and the car returned, running over his arm, this time fracturing an elbow and resulting in road rash.

Long has been told he may have to remain in the hospital for a couple of weeks to undergo inpatient therapy.

42-year-old Dustin Atteberry of the 100 block of North Main was charged in Marion County Court on Monday with aggravated battery in connection with the incident, but the charge only mentioned the road rash as Long’s injury.  The State’s Attorney’s office is now seeking further information on the extent of Long’s injuries.

Long and his fiancé say the series of incidents Sunday night were related to a domestic dispute.   A second person was arrested for entering Atteberry’s home and allegedly breaking an x-box and TV.  29-year-old Jazina Anderson of West Barr in Sandoval was released on a notice to appear for alleged criminal damage to property.  A vehicle was also reportedly damaged when rocks were thrown at it.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Sandoval Police are continuing the investigation.
