The State Fire Marshal’s office was asked to investigate a suspicious fire at the Library Apartments on Sycamore Street in Centralia during the noon hour Tuesday.
Centralia City Firemen say smoke was showing from the roof of the complex upon their arrival, but the actual fire was confined to a couch and trash in one basement apartment. There was a quick knockdown with only minor fire and smoke damage confined to the one apartment.
Those in the apartment complex were initially evacuated, but where able to return quickly once the small size of the fire was determined.
All available off duty Centralia city firemen were called to assist.
