2024 04/23 – Harold Geibe Boyles

Harold Geibe Boyles, age 93 of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 19, 2024, at Salem Township Hospital with his son by his side.

Harold was born to Roscoe and Reba (Geibe) Boyles on July 3, 1930, in Stevenson Township, Marion County.  He was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1951-1953 during the Korean War.  Harold married Elizabeth Joan Lusch on January 25, 1957, and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage.

Harold was a charter member and a past President of the Marion County Genealogical and Historical Society.  Researching family history was his greatest hobby and he assisted multitudes of people in researching their family ties to Marion County.  Harold also served as the past President of the Salem Sportsman’s Club and Marion County Coon Hunters Association.  He was an active member and Session Clerk of the New Bethel Presbyterian Church for over 40 years.  Harold worked for Stanford Engineering from 1964-1995 in Salem.  He received an Award as the Public Servant of the Year in 2014 from the Salem Chamber of Commerce recognizing his volunteer assistance to people interested in their family history.  He was also honored by the Salem Mayor in 2019 for his years of service with the Marion County Genealogical and Historical Society with a plaque.

Harold is survived his wife, Elizabeth Joan Boyles of Salem; son, Kent Boyles of Salem; one brother, Larry Boyles and wife Liz of Salem; nieces, Amber Boyles Pellock and husband Michael of Edwardsville, Roxanne Lusch of San Antonio, TX and Lisa (Lusch) Davis and husband Jerry of Austin, TX; and nephews, Ryan Boyles of Nashville, TN, Martin Alan Duncan of Burleson, TX, Richard, Randy, and Larry Ray Lusch of San Antonio, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Reba Boyles; sister, Janetha Boyles Duncan; nephew, Randall Oscar Duncan; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Joseph Lusch and wife Janet.

Funeral Services for Harold Geibe Boyles will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with David Lusch officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service.  Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery with Military Rites by the Salem American Legion.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to New Bethel Presbyterian Church or the Marion County Genealogical and Historical Society and can be received at the funeral home.  Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
