The Salem Lady Wildcats track team traveled to Chester yesterday for the Cahokia Conference Championships. They were 3rd overall behind champion Freeburg and runner up Breese Central.
Aila Laird was the conference champion in the 800, Maci Thorsen won the 3200, Hannah Smith the discus and the 4×100 relay team of Kinsey Jarrett, Eden Gallia, Avery Robinson and Finley Puricelli were just .4 of a second behind the school record set in 1994. Brylee Pennypacker was 2nd in the discus, Puricelli runner up in the high jump and 3rd in the 400. Salem will compete at home next Thursday in the 2a Sectional trying to earn a trip to state.
