Emergency responders talk to some of the youth at the 2023 Emergency Responder Display at the Salem Elks.

The Salem Elks will host a display of emergency response vehicles in its parking lot on North Broadway Thursday afternoon.

The event is scheduled from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.  It has been organized by Elks Youth Activities Chairman Brad Hargis along with Salem Community High School Resource Officer Craig Vieira.   The Salem Police Department, Salem Fire Protection District, United Medical Response, Salem Emergency Management Agency, Marion County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency and the Marion County Sheriff’s Department will all have equipment set up.

Everyone is invited to check out the Salem Emergency vehicles up close.

The Salem Elks #1678 will be serving hot dogs and soft drinks to all in attendance.

The event is part of Elks National Youth Week.  It’s one of several youth activities sponsored by the Salem Elks.  Others include the Literacy Program, several scholarship opportunities, the annual Elks Hoop Shoot and many chicken dinner fundraisers.
