Kaskaskia Blue Angels ready to get started today at Juco World Series
After traveling the nearly 8 hours south on Sunday evening, the KC Blue Angels were honored along with the 15 other qualifying teams to a banquet held Monday at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Coaches and athletes could check out the stored raceway as well as the location where they filmed a lot of the popular Will Farrell movie Talladega Nights. To cap off the day, the Blue Angels got to take a ride in their bus for a lap around the track.
Then during the awards banquet, coach John Barnes was named the Central Division Coach of the Year after his Blue Angels won a school record 47 games this season and 91 over the past 2 years. KC also has a record holder in the lineup as sophomore Sydnee Garrett has 15 home runs this year and 25 in her 2-year career, a school record. She is a South Central High School graduate.
The rain has made it’s way to the area on Tuesday, which could push back games, but all are expected to get in today with game times right now scheduled for 12, 2 and 4pm.
