There will be four inductees this year to the Centralia Community Youth Center’s Wall of Honor.
Executive Director Herb Williams says a committee has reviewed the applications submitted and selected the four.
Betty Simmons, a Centralia Junior High Teacher and Cheerleading Coach, who also has mentoring programs for young ladies at the youth center and other locations is the first inductee.
Tom and Traci Macz, the owners of the Irvin-Macz Funeral Home, are being inducted for their community service and involvement in the youth center and other organizations as well as their willingness to help families during bereavement.
Wes Monken of the Monken family dealerships is being honored for his work to get the new outdoor basketball courts installed at the youth center, other field improvements at other locations and his involvement in coaching.
Williams says the committee also named him to the Wall of Honor despite his objections. Williams has been instrumental in the growth and expansion of the youth center and its programs as well as his lifelong work as a coach.
The four will be inducted during a Saturday, February 17th, banquet at the Centralia Community Youth Center. The seventh annual recognition program will begin at six pm. Tickets for the meal and program are $25 and available at the youth center or from any board member.
