The first-ever Polar Plunge will be held in the rear Centralia High School parking lot on Friday, March 10th.
The Polar Plunge like the ones at Rend and Carlyle Lake will help raise money for Special Olympics Athletes.
The dry land Polar Plunge at Centralia High School is the creation of Centralia High School Resource Officer Micky Jader and is sponsored by Centralia High School and the Centralia Fraternal Order of Police.
“Goal is to raise money and awareness and have a great time. For the event, we have got a retaining pool that the fire department will be setting up in the back parking lot. About 10-foot diameter and 4 feet deep. You jump in the icy water, pop back out and we will have food trucks there along with a live DJ and several games for the kids.”
Those who donate or raise $100 will be able to take a plunge into the pool. Those making the plunge will receive a long sleeve shirt or hoodie with the special logo created for the event. You can also donate money to have others on the participant list to take the plunge.
There will also be a craft fair held in the Centralia High Annex building. The cost for a 10 by 10-foot table is $5. If you’re interested you can contact Jader or Kristy Kuder at Centralia High School.
The event will be held from three to seven pm on Friday, March 10th. The plunges will take place beginning at four pm.
Jader wants the event to be an absolute blast and is encouraging everyone to wear a fun costume.
