Marion County at low level of COVID-19 community spread

The latest CDC tracker numbers show Marion County is at the low level of community spread for the week ending last Thursday.

There were 69 new cases, a 47-percent increase, and four new hospitalizations.

Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow reported no new COVID-19-related deaths during the past week.  The county has had 212 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began.

Mallow is reporting four congregate care facilities are currently on outbreak status.  One facility had 54 positives, another 53, a third 17, and a fourth four positive cases.

Two South Central Illinois counties are at the medium level of transmission.   They are Jefferson with 28 new cases, a 17-percent increase, and seven new hospitalizations.   Wayne County had 11 new cases, a large jump, and three new hospitalizations.

Clinton, Washington, Fayette, and Clay Counties are all at the low level.  Clinton County had 69 new cases, a 15-percent increase, and three new hospitalizations.  Washington County had ten new cases, a 17-percent decline, and one new hospitalization.  Fayette County had 25 new cases, a 63-percent decline.  No new hospitalization numbers were available.  Clay County had nine new cases, a 47-percent drop, and one new hospitalization.
