Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow has announced another COVID-19-related death.   A female in her 60s was a long-term care resident and was vaccinated but not up to date.

The death is the 222nd COVID-19-related death since the pandemic began.

Mallow reports the number of congregate care facilities on outbreak status has dropped to four.  One has 54 cases, another 30, a third 17, and a fourth facility had four cases.

The CDC tracker reports 47 new cases of COVID-19 in Marion County during the week ending Thursday.  That’s an 81-percent increase over the prior week.   Six new hospitalizations were reported.

Jefferson, Washington, Fayette, and Wayne Counties are all now at the medium level as well.  Jefferson County had 24 new cases, a 14-percent increase, and five new hospitalizations.  Washington County had 12 new cases, a 43-percent drop, but two new hospitalizations.  Fayette County had 67 new cases, a 20 percent increase, and two new hospitalizations.   Wayne County had three new cases, a 72-percent drop, and two new hospitalizations.

Statewide, 19 counties are now at the medium level, up from 14 last week.  There was one county at the high-level last week, Richland County, but it has now dropped to the low level.  The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 10,813 new confirmed and probable cases in the week ending February 12th and 68 new deaths.

As of Thursday night, there were 979 individuals in Illinois in the hospital with COVID-19.  Of those, 131 were in the ICU and 39 were on ventilators.
