The Centralia City Council Monday night will be asked to turn over ownership and custody of the retiring canine ‘Bert’ to his handler.   Officer Cameron Ward has worked the streets with Bert for the past eight years.  The resolution also notes the Mayor and City Council recognize that Bert has provided the citizens and residents of Centralia an invaluable service by assisting officers in the apprehension of suspects in investigations and assisting in locating missing persons.

The council will be asked to approve a resolution accepting a donation of lights and holiday displays for the downtown area in return for the city installing the displays going forward.  The items valued at $29,000 have been contributed by The Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce, Centralia Foundation, Shannon Cooney of the Crooked Creek Winery Downtown, and Wes Monken of Monken Automotive.

Another resolution would allow the city to go out for bid for electric service. The City’s current contract expires in February.

The council will be asked to approve Gonzalez Companies LLC to perform preliminary engineering and engineering inspection services for the 2023 motor fuel tax street maintenance program.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
