Salem Mayor Nic Farley will ask the city council tonight to table discussion on zoning regulations for residential occupancy of upper stories of a downtown building.
Farley asked for the issue to be put on the agenda as a result of frustration expressed by a few downtown building owners, but wants to wait until a full city council can participate. Two will be absent from Monday night’s meeting.
Farley says the discussion will now be held at the Monday, December 5th meeting.
The council has several other issues on Monday night’s agenda. They will be asked to allow two public works projects to move forward. One involves a $10,165 contract with Vandevanter Engineering for the repairs to one of the mixer tank pumps with new seals at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The second project would be the purchase of four variable flow pumps and rotor assemblies for the wastewater plant from Foremost Industrial Technologies in the amount of $11,597.
The council will also be asked to move the Greater Salem Area Foundation Disc Golf Tournament from Sunday, November 27th, to Friday, November 25th.
The council meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
