Centralia Police removed a 24-year-old Chicago man from an Amtrak train Friday morning after he was allegedly brandishing a gun at others on the train.
Robert King was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of weapons without a FOID card and disorderly conduct. He has been taken to the Marion County Jail.
At the time the train arrived at 4:33 am, Centralia Police were uncertain of the situation and sent all available officers. The conductors advised they had the weapon that was in King’s possession.
The train crew first came into contact with King when he showed them a message that someone on the train was trying to kill him. He reportedly had dropped a loaded revolver when later asked by the conductors if he had a weapon after a passenger had alerted them that the man they were talking with was carrying a gun.
King gave a description of the person trying to kill him, but officers and conductors searched the entire train and didn’t find anyone matching the description.
Centralia Police say once King was transported to the police station he refused to answer any questions about the incident.
There were no injuries reported.
