An early morning high speed chase that started on Route 161 east of Centralia eventually ended on Pisque Lane southeast of Irvington with the two occupants successfully fleeing the vehicle on foot.

The chase began when a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy allegedly clocked the vehicle traveling at 113 miles per hour on Route 161 near Byars Road. The chase continued to Crestwood Lane where the vehicle was able to turn around and head back to Route 161 where it went eastbound to I-57. The vehicle proceeded
southbound on the Interstate, eventually crossing the median and traveling southbound in the northbound lanes through a construction zone before exiting at the Dix Irvington Road. The chase then went westbound to Richview Road, where it turned south to the Grand Road, then east on Grand Road, before heading northbound on Pisque Lane southeast of Irvington.

At that point, the vehicle pulled into a driveway of a home where the two fled on foot and were not located. The vehicle was impounded.

Marion County was joined by Jefferson and Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies, State Police, and the Mt. Vernon canine in handling the chase and subsequent manhunt.

There were reportedly several missed collisions when the vehicle was traveling the wrong way on the Interstate.
