Marion County Health Department reporting three new deaths from COVID-19 related causes

The Marion County Health Department is reporting three new deaths from COVID-19 related causes from Thanksgiving Day through Wednesday.

The deaths included two residents of long-term care centers.  One was a male in his 80s who was fully vaccinated and a female in her 80s who was not vaccinated.  The third death was a female in her 60s, who was not a long-term care resident, who was not vaccinated, and was an inpatient in the hospital.

There were 123 new cases over the seven-day period, with 34 fully vaccinated.   Two are long-term care residents, 18 are school age and two are four years old and younger.  101 of the cases are considered community spread and 22 are considered spread from household or close contacts.

There are now 14 in the hospital from COVID-19 related causes.   None are long-term care residents and none are on a ventilator.   The age breakdown of the cases includes one teen, one in his 20s, one in his 40s, three in their 50s, four in their 60s, three in their 70s, and one in their 80s.

There are currently 105 active cases in the county, including those in the hospital.  168 were released from isolation during the seven-day reporting period.
