The number of COVID 19 cases jumped 43-percent in Marion County last week.
The CDC County COVID tracker shows 117 new cases. That put the county’s rate of infection at 315 per one-hundred thousand, more than three times the number to be placed in the highest rate of infection. There were also 12 new hospitalizations in Marion County in the week ending Friday. The CDC reports 48.6-percent of Marion County residents 12 and over are now vaccinated.
Both Clinton and Washington Counties that had fallen out of the high infection category are back in it this week. Clinton County had 55 new cases for a rate of 146 per 100,000. There was one new hospitalization in the county. Washington County had 17 new cases and an infection rate of 122 per 100,000. There were no new hospitalizations in the past week.
Jefferson County saw a decline in cases last week to just 57. That’s a 25-percent drop and decreased the county’s infection rate to 151 per 100,000. There were seven new hospitalizations.
Fayette County is reporting 49 new cases for the week for an infection rate of 230 per 100,000. That’s seven percent higher than the prior week. The county had five new hospitalizations.
Clay County had 31 new cases or a rate of 235 per 100,000. That’s a 21-percent decline. There were three new hospitalizations.
Wayne County reported 38 new cases, more than double the week before. The positivity rate is 234 over 100,000. One new hospitalization was reported.
