UNDATED (AP) — Michigan has jumped four spots to No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll and Oklahoma State joins the top five for the first time since 2015. Georgia is a unanimous No. 1 in the AP Top 25 presented by Regions Bank for the eighth consecutive week. Michigan has its highest ranking since it peaked at No. 2 in 2016 after beating Ohio State to break an eight-game losing streak in the rivalry. Cincinnati moved up to No. 3, passing Alabama at No. 4. The Crimson Tide slipped a spot after beating Auburn in overtime. Oklahoma State moved up two spots after beating Oklahoma for the first time since 2014.

UNDATED (AP) — Nebraska has earned the dubious distinction of being the best 3-9 team in the country. Since 1978, when Division I was split into what’s now known as the Bowl Subdivision and Championship Subdivision, no team until the 2021 Cornhuskers had nine single-digit losses in a season. That’s according to Sportradar. Georgia has allowed just 83 points through 12 games. Since 2000, the only other team to give up under 100 points over 12 games was Southern California in 2008. Missouri’s Tyler Badie became the first player since Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor in 2018 with five 200-yard rushing games in a season.

UNDATED (AP) — Conference champions will be crowned, bowl selection pecking orders will be locked in and more clarity will emerge about which teams will and won’t be among the four picked for the College Football Playoff. It’s Championship Week. While the matchups for the conference title games Friday and Saturday include many of the usual suspects, there are some joining the party for the first time, or first time in a while. Among the newcomers is Michigan. The Wolverines are in the Big Ten title game after knocking off Ohio State.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana coach Tom Allen has fired offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan. The move comes less than 24 hours after the Hoosiers completed their first winless season in conference play since 2011. Allen also said he would take a $200,000 pay cut in each of the next four seasons. His contract runs through 2027. Allen had hinted for several weeks that he’d already decided to make some offseason changes. More could be coming after Indiana finished 2-10.
