An 18-year-old Mt. Vernon man has pleaded guilty in Jackson County Court on Thursday to an attempted armed robbery last November at a Carbondale apartment and was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison.
Daryon Bowdry and his brother are accused of entering the bedroom of the victim at his residence, pointing a firearm at him, and demanding the victim turn over a firearm he legally owned or be shot. The victim then reportedly shot Bowdry’s brother in self-defense.
The two brothers reportedly had hung out at the apartment earlier in the evening before the alleged victim went to sleep.
