Country Bobs in Centralia is completing an $800,000 expansion to their building.

Director of Operations Nate Edson says the 200 by 100 foot addition that will be attached to their present facility on U.S. 51 on the south edge of Centralia will be used for warehouse space and storage.

Edson says the COVID-19 shutdowns apparently led to more people cooking at home and led to a record year of sales last year. He reports that growth is continuing into 2021. At the same time, the company is being challenged to be able to get needed supplies in time. Edson says the expansion will allow for more ingredients to be kept on hand as well as allow them to keep more finished product to meet growing demand.

Shores Builders will complete the construction that is not expected until fall as they await the delivery of steel. Edson hopes the work can be completed by the end of the year.

Edson says they have added one additional employee as they have increased production.

The building permit was the largest issued by the City of Centralia in June.

Total new building is placed at $941,600. The next largest permit was a $43,000 garage to Daniel and Erika Knox on Pinehurst Drive. Twenty other permits were issued for fencing, sheds, pools, and carports.

There were two demolition permits issued during the month. They were for mobile homes at 650 North Walnut and 1406 South Maple.
