Salem Fire Protection District officials report heavy damage to a vehicle that caught fire in the parking lot of Russell’s Garage at North Jefferson and East McMackin Street late Friday afternoon.
Salem Assistant Fire Chief Bill Fulton says the cause of the fire that was centered in the engine compartment was not determined. It is not believed to be related to work that had been completed a short time earlier in the garage.
The fire call came in at 4:30. The vehicle was not near any other vehicle or building.
