The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to approve a resolution authorizing the purchase of Natural Gas from PEFA, Inc. City Manager Lisa Peck says this is a long-term discount program providing a discount on all volumes placed in the program. There are currently 104 communities with gas systems participating.
The council will also receive an update on the electrical aggregation program from Good Energy.
The council will be asked to enter into a professional services agreement with Milano and Grunloh Engineers for engineering services for the proposed water system improvements on Illinois Avenue north of Boone Street, Meadow Lane, Deer Path Drive and Bryan Lane. $51,522 is included for design engineering and $45,082 for construction engineering.
First reading of the budget for the fiscal year beginning May 1st is also before the council.
While the city can charge a fee for credit card usage at the Salem Aquatic Center, staff are against the idea because it would place teenage summer employees in a potentially confrontational atmosphere for approximately $3,500 in potential revenue.
The council will be asked to accept the resignation of Department of Emergency Management Director Andrew Strong and Deputy Director Shane Mansker. Strong is now heading the Marion County EMA and Mansker is an assistant director.
The Salem City Council meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
