The National Weather Service has identified four tornado tracks in the Metro-East during the severe thunderstorms early Wednesday morning.
One of the tornadoes in the St. Libory area of southwest St. Clair County was near where some building and powerline damage was reported south of Okawville in Washington County. The EF1 tornado had a maximum wind speed of 94 miles per hour. The path of the tornado was 2.6 miles long and was a maximum 300 yards wide.
Other short tornado paths were found in north central and northeast Madison County. An EF0 tornado damaged a solar farm and telephone poles. An EF1 tornado with top speed of 95 miles per hour damaged four residences, grain bins and trees in the Moro area. One injury was reported.
The fourth tornado path was in the Grafton area of Jersey County. At least one resident, two businesses, and numerous trees. The tornado was rated an EF1 twister with a top speed of 88 miles per hour.
More serious damage was reported from a tornado in the Kankakee area south of Chicago.
