The Odin Village Board decided to do more this year for the Action Pack program that provides a weekend package of food for 60 students at the Odin School.
The board agreed to up this year’s donation to $1,500 from the $1,000 provided last year because of the large number of students in need. The program is also seeking donations from the township and area churches, but individuals can help as well. For those who want to help, they can call the Odin School Social Worker KD Lynch who organizes the program.
Odin Mayor Greg Smith told the owners of Toad Alley he didn’t have a problem issuing them a liquor license that will allow them to offer video gaming. The board wanted to wait until after the April village elections. CJ Spicer brought up the issue again Thursday night. While Smith said they could not take action at the meeting because it wasn’t on the agenda, they agreed to take a vote next month.
Spicer says they are not looking at having a tavern. They will have alcohol available for consumption on premises along with sandwiches and coffee for those playing the games. The business will be open ten am to ten pm seven days a week.
The board agreed to enter into a new contract with Village Attorney Brian Merrill, saying he is doing a good professional job. Merrill, who was not at the meeting, will be asked if he wants a two- or three-year contract, or just the one-year contract he’s received in the past.
The board authorized up to $1,000 to be spent on Christmas decorations for village hall in place of the rented Christmas lights placed on pole.
Halloween Trick or Treat was set for Friday, October 31st, from six to eight pm for those 12 and under.
