David L. Mayberry, 69, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:56 pm January 6, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side. David met JoLynn Swofford on February 6, 1990. She stood him up on February 14 and they were married by March 30, 1990. Their marriage was a love story from beginning to end. David worked for Precision National for many years before retirement. He was of the Baptist faith. David was greatly loved and will be missed.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, John David Mayberry and Breanna L. Mayberry, both of Mount Vernon; granddaughter, Alivia Owen, affectionately known as “Libby Libby”; siblings, Walter Mayberry, Kenny Mayberry, Chris Mayberry, and Terry Haynes of Mount Vernon, Nola Mayberry of Marion, Illinois, and Sarah Neal of Effingham, Illinois; special great-nephew, Jeremiah Miller of West Frankfort, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born October 14, 1951 in Fairfield, Illinois to the late Harley Eugene and Rhoda Lee (May) Mayberry. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Joan Stone, who he thought the world of, and she of him.
