The Marion County Health Department reported 40 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, but no additional deaths.
Statewide there were 139 additional deaths, including a female in her 70s in Clinton County and females in their 60s, 80s, and 90s in Jefferson County.
Marion County Health Department officials report of their 40 new cases 27 were community spread and 13 were the result of household or close contacts. The cases included one long term care resident and four students who were not at school during their infectious period.
There are now 212 active cases, including 27 in the hospital and four of those on ventilators. The department released 61 from isolation bringing the number of recovered over the 3,000 mark to 3,005.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 63 new positive cases. 362 remain on home isolation and 12 are hospitalized.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 31 new cases. 186 remain on isolation.
The Washington County Health Department is reporting 61 new cases on Tuesday and Wednesday. There are 106 active cases.
Fayette County is reporting 39 new cases on Wednesday.
Statewide, there were 7,569 new cases of COVID-19 reported. The preliminary seven-day positivity rate is at 8.4-percent. The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate remained at 11.5-percent. The Marion County rate is up to 10.4-percent. The Metro-East Region positivity rate increased to 13.3-percent. The East Central Illinois Region is at 9.4-percent positivity.
Available ICU beds in Southern Illinois are at just 12.8-percent and in the Metro East Region 11.2-percent.
