Charles Lee Owens, 67, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:50 pm December 27, 2020, at Saint Louis University Hospital in St.Louis, Missouri.

Charles drove for Beck Bus Company and worked for Gilster-Mary Lee in Centralia until his retirement.  He was a hardworking man and loved grilling.  He was of the Jehova’s Witness faith and loved being with his family more than anything.  He is dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed.

A Visitation will be held Friday, January 8, 2020, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Charles’ honor to the Owens Family, in the care of Trinica Ford. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 10 people under the tent at a time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone to wear a mask. They will be made available, upon request. He was born May 12, 1953, in Luxora, Arkansas to the late Eugene and Ola Mae (Johnson) Owens. Charles was married to Beatrice (Jones) Owens and she preceded him in death. Charles is survived by his daughter, Trinica (Reynolds) Ford of Maywood, Illinois; sons, Charles Lee Reynolds of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Darryl Eugene Owens of Sugargrove, Illinois; stepson, Jason Lamont Reynolds of Odin, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter Owens, Tommy Owens, and Jesse Owens; sisters, Gloriastine Johnson, Maxine Riley, Carla Owens, Debra Owens, and Patricia Owens; and several nieces and nephews.
