Freeburg Keeps Pace With Central After Win Over Salem

 The Salem Wildcats saw their 3-game win streak snapped with a loss at state-ranked Freeburg 15-1 in five innings.  The Midgets scored 8 runs the first two innings and then capped off their day with a 6-spot in the 4th as they outhit Salem 13-2.  Logan Butts had an RBI double and Keytin Grawe had a hit and scored the run.  Brendan Smith, Owen Tennyson and Zane Applegate pitched in the loss.

The Cahokia Conference Mississippi Division is a murderer’s row this season with a log jam at the top.  Yesterday Breese Central earned a 1-0 home win over Roxana.  The win improves the Cougars to 16-3 overall and 4-1 in the league, tied with Freeburg for the top spot.  Roxana fell out of a 3 way tie falling to 3-2.  The Shells and Cougars will play again Thursday this time in Roxana.  Breese Central will host Mt Vernon this afternoon.


Salem JV Loses To Freeburg

The Salem JV lost 11-1 in Salem yesterday.  Damon Jennings went 1-3 with an RBI and Nicholi Marhanka added 2 hits as the Cats outhit Freeburg 10-9.  Jax Schaubert had a big day for Salem going 3-3.  Salem also got singles from Landen White, Drake Rector, Huck Mulvaney and Bentley Bryan.


Waterloo Holds Off Mt Vernon

The Rams are coming off a 9-6 loss to Waterloo.  Nolan Mast went 3-4 and drove in 2 for the Rams.  Ryker Perigo added 3 hits and an RBI while scoring twice.  Evan Fitzjerrells, Gavin Pedigo and Eli Prost added a hit and run each.  The Rams are 9-7 overall.


OPS Falls To Wayne City After Big 1st Inning

Odin/Patoka/Sandoval gave up 8 runs in the first inning in their 9-1 loss to Wayne City.  Brady Cain only allowed 4 earned runs over his 4 innings of work.  He and Bo Chapman had OPS hits.  Ben Spencer scored the OPS run.


NC Beats SC For 2nd Time in 4 days

North Clay scored 7 runs in the second inning and routed South Central for the 2nd time in 4 days winning at Lions Field 15-0.  The Cougars had just one hit, a Luke Shumate single.  For North Clay, Cody Zimdars homered twice driving in 6 runs in the first two innings.  Cayden Craig added a 3 run homer for good measure.  Ian Jones was the winning pitcher and Hudson Moore took the loss.  SC is at Effiingham tomorrow.


CORLHS Beats Marquette

Christ Our Rock earned a win over Marquette Catholic 5-3.  Brayden Albert got the Stallions on the board with an RBI double in the first.  Drew Lueking then broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth with a run scoring single.  Brayden Albert went 2-3 with Noah Kenley and Lueking coming through with 2 hits each.  Garrett Denton earned the win.  The two teams will play again tomorrow in Alton.
