Salem Township Hospital has earned national recognition for ‘nurse communication’ with patients.
Hospital President Alex Nazarian announced the award from Becker’s Hospital Review at Wednesday’s hospital board meeting. He noted Salem Township Hospital is one of only seven in Illinois and 364 in the country to receive the recognition. Nazarian is commending the nursing staff.
“Communication by the nurses and doctors is very important for the patient. When you are here for a condition you have no idea about. You are in a lot of pain and discomfort and it is important for our clinical staff to help those patients understand this. What they are going through, what their conditions are and what their outlook is.”
The awards are compiled by Becker’s using Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems date from Central Management Services. It is one of the ten HCAHPS star ratings that are publicly reported.
St. Joseph’s Hospitals in Breese and Highland also made the list in South Central Illinois.
