The 3rd annual Centralia Summer Market will include a capacity 63 vendors this Saturday and has been expanded to three downtown blocks.

Kristy Kuder and Mimi Hawkins started the event as a family friendly day and say that is the goal again this year.

Hawkins says the vendors and activities will be spread out in the 100 and 200 blocks of East Broadway and 100 block of South Locust.

“We have several wood working vendors that have very quality work, we have Poppy’s Castle is new this year, they do Dungeons and Dragons kind of stuff, tumblers, crocheted items, a little bit of everything for everybody, t-shirts, ceramic Christmas trees and specialty items that are unique and are beautiful.”

Hawkins says 16 of the booths will feature food.

“Everything from BBQ to ribs, tacos, all kinds of drinks, specialty teas, shaved ice, lemon shake ups and other varieties.  Plenty of sweets.  We have a couple different orchards coming.  Everything you could be hungering or in the mood for, we have it.”

There will be two free inflatables for the kids. One is a fireman the other a slide. Parental supervision is required. There will also be police and firemen coloring contests with 1st and 2nd place winners for both. A member of the police and fire departments will be hand to interact with the kids.

Hank Jourdan will perform in front of the Illinois Theater from 10:30 to noon and again from 12:30 to two. Zumba will be featured from noon to 12:30 pm.

As a result of the Summer Market, no through traffic or parking will be allowed in the 100 and 200 blocks of East Broadway and the 100 block of South Locust from eight to three on Saturday. If you use the parking lot located beside Centralia City Hall, you must have your vehicle removed by 7:30 Saturday morning
