An Illinois State Police Accident Reconstructionist is trying to determine how an 18-month-old child was struck and killed while in the driveway of a home in the 1200 block of North Light House Lane north of Opdyke.
Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse says the child was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident that occurred around eight Friday night.
The child’s name is not being released pending notification of relatives.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, which is handling the accident, called in a State Police Accident Reconstructionist to assist. The coroner has scheduled an autopsy for Monday morning.
