Bond has been set at a half-million dollars for a 34-year-old CILA resident facing attempted murder, armed violence and aggravated battery charges against an employee who he allegedly stabbed multiple times.
Tyler Watson had the bond set in Marion County Court during his first appearance on the charges Tuesday afternoon by Judge Mark Stedelin. The Judge also appointed, without objection, agreed to have Watson evaluated regarding his fitness to stand trial. A hearing regarding Watson’s fitness is set for February 22nd.
The victim told Salem Police while in a company vehicle on the driveway of the CILA home on Schroeder Drive she was assaulted by Watson, who exited the house with a kitchen knife and proceeded to stab her numerous times.
The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to Salem Township Hospital, then flown to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. As of Monday night, she was still undergoing treatment.
The victim was able to escape the property in the vehicle and called 911. However, as a result of serious injury she crashed her vehicle into the yard of a residence in the 500 block of Airport Road.
Watson was taken into custody at the scene and was transported to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of cuts to his hands before being questioned and taken to the Marion County Jail.
The two attempted murder and armed violence counts are all Class X felonies and the aggravated battery charge is a Class 3 felony.
If released on bond, Watson was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, her residence or employment and continue any prescribed mental health treatment.
Salem Police say the CILA home is owned by Marion County Horizon Center.
