The Marion County Health Department is saddened to report four more COVID-19 related deaths. None of the four were vaccinated. Two were long-term care residents, a female in her 80s and a female in her 70s. The other two were males in their 70s. All four were in the hospital at the time of their death. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Marion County since the pandemic began is 185.
The Clinton County Health Department is reporting no additional deaths in their weekly report. The department is reporting eight hospitalizations in the past week, including a female in her 90s, two females in their 80s, and a female in her 30s. There was also a male in his 80s, one in their 60s, and two in their 50s. There were 218 new cases during the week bringing the number of positive cases of COVID to more than 10,000 since the pandemic began.
Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 207,203 new COVID-19 confirmed or probable cases during the past week ending on Friday. There were also 738 additional deaths. The statewide positivity rate is at 10.6-percent. Of Illinois’ total population, 74 percent have had at least one vaccine and 65-percent are fully vaccinated. More than 42-percent have been boosted according to the Centers for Disease Control.
