LAS VEGAS (AP) — Christian Koloko had 22 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots to lead Arizona to a dominating 80-62 win over No. 4 Michigan on Sunday in the Roman Main Event. Bennedict Mathurin added 16 points for Arizona (5-0), which put together an impressive all-around performance. Michigan (4-2) couldn’t get anything to fall from the perimeter, shooting 1 of 14 from 3. Eli Brooks led the Wolverines with 14 points.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Ashley Owusu scored 24 points and No. 3 Maryland handed No. 6 Baylor its first loss of the post-Kim Mulkey era 79-76. The Terrapins led 76-65 before a furious Baylor rally nearly forced overtime. The Bears had the ball down by three but Sarah Andrews missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds. This was the first significant test for the Bears under new coach Nicki Collen, who took over after Mulkey left for LSU. NaLyssa Smith had 30 points and 15 rebounds for Baylor and Jordan Lewis added 29 points.

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Bryce McGowens scored 18 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, leading four players into double-figure scoring as Nebraska defeated Southern 82-59. McGowens, a 6-foot-7 freshman, was a perfect 10 of 10 at the free-throw line as he collected his first double-double for the Huskers. Derrick Walker made seven of eight field goals to finish with 15 points for Nebraska, Alonzo Verge scored 14 with six rebounds and four assists. Nebraska quickly built a 23-9 lead by the 5:09 mark of the first half and never let Southern get closer than 11 after that. Brion Whitley led the Jaguars with 17 points.

UNDATED (AP) — Ohio State is No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll, jumping three spots past No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Cincinnati in a close vote. Georgia is a unanimous No. 1 in the AP Top 25 presented by Regions Bank for the seventh consecutive week. Alabama slipped past Cincinnati last week and then Ohio State leapfrogged them both after routing Michigan State. Notre Dame is up to a season-high No. 5 and Michigan will go into its game against Ohio State ranked No. 6. Oklahoma State moved to a season-high No. 7 and is one of three Big 12 teams in the top 10, along with No. 9 Baylor and No. 10 Oklahoma. Mississippi rounds out the top 10 at No. 8.

UNDATED (AP) — Florida and Florida State enter Saturday’s matchup at 5-6, meaning the winner becomes bowl eligible. That’s one of four games next weekend pitting two five-win teams against each other. The others are Maryland-Rutgers, Charlotte-Old Dominion and Florida Atlantic-Middle Tennessee. There’s enough space for 82 FBS teams to play in bowls this season. Right now 72 teams already have secured bowl eligibility. The winners of the four games listed above will bring the total to 76, and there are plenty of other teams that also are a victory away from bowl eligibility.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Maui Invitational was all set to say aloha to the mainland and return to the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaii Gov. David Ige had signed off, the mayor of Lahaina was onboard and tournament officials were all set. Two weeks later, the plan was scrapped. Coronavirus cases had started to spike again and it really didn’t make much sense to have eight teams head to Maui to play basketball games. So a year after being played in Asheville, North Carolina, the Maui Invitational will continue its mainland tour under the glittering lights of The Strip in Las Vegas. This year’s bracket includes No. 12 Oregon, No. 15 Houston, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Butler, St. Mary’s and Chaminade.
