A 31-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to six months in the Marion County Jail after two outbursts during court hearings on Thursday.
Travis Wooters was making an appearance on pending burglary, theft, and driving on revoked license charges when he began demanding Judge Allan F. Lolie release him from custody. He then allegedly called his attorney and the assistant state’s attorney a vulgar name before asking the judge what he was going to do and called him a coward before cursing him. At that point, Judge Lolie found him in direct criminal contempt of court and stopped the court hearing.
About two hours later, Wooters case was called again and he once again began cursing court officials. After being unable to continue, the judge sentenced Wooters to six months in the Marion County Jail for repeated contempt of court and ordered he receives no good time on his pending charges for the six-month period.
Wooters is now scheduled to return to court on August 19th for a pre-trial hearing.
