The Salem JV baseball team finished up their summer schedule with a double header sweep at Teutopolis. They won the opener 8-5 scoring 5 times in the 2nd inning to take control of the game. Cooper Lobek doubled and drove in 2 with Ryan Detering also adding 2 RBI. Salem got runs driven in as well from Rhett Detering, Colton Shelton and Jackson Green. Ayden Rose got the win going 4 innings allowing 2 hits and 2 runs, neither were earned, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Aden Bass worked the final inning allowing 3 hits and 3 runs.
Salem had another big inning in the night cap, an 8 run third, as they easily won 13-4. Keaton Gullion drove in 3 runs and also scored with 2 RBI each from Shelton and Ryan Detering. Also with RBI were Lobek, Bass, Rhett Detering, Cody Beard, Colten Starnes and Green. Rhett Detering worked 2.2 innings allowing 4 hits and 4 runs, one earned, with 6 ks. Lobek pitched 2.1 innings and allowed 2 hits and no runs.
The Salem Varsity Wildcats are 12-2 on the summer and will take on Highland tonight before playing in the League Final 4 on Saturday at Greenville University.
