The Bryan Bennett Library in Salem will host the author of Exploring the Land of Lincoln: The Essential Guide to Illinois Historic Sites at six Thursday evening.
Charles Titus is a native of Illinois and a member of the History Department at Eastern Illinois University.
The book is a combination of storytelling and in-depth study of 20 historical Illinois sites. It includes maps, illustrations and mileage tables.
Among the places explored in the book are: Cahokia, Lincoln sites, Nauvoo, and Chicago’s South Side Community Arts Center.
Exploring the Land of Lincoln recently received a Superior Achievement award from the Illinois State Historical Society. A slideshow will accompany the author’s talk that will be held in the William Jennings Bryan Reading Area.
There is no fee to attend.
