A familiar name to local baseball fans is headed to the next level.

Salem High School graduate and Rend Lake College sophomore right-handed pitcher Noah Nix has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Dayton.

Nix announced his decision through social media, expressing his gratitude to the people who have helped him reach this point in his baseball journey.

“I am extremely excited and blessed to announce my commitment to further my academic and athletic career at the University of Dayton,” Nix said. “I want to give all glory to God and sincerely thank my family, teammates, coaches, and trainers for their endless support and guidance throughout this journey. I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped me get to this point, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”

The commitment is the latest step in what has been an impressive rise for the former Salem Wildcat.

Nix has established himself as one of Rend Lake’s top pitchers as he prepares to enter his final season with the Warriors. His performances have drawn attention from college scouts, but his development continued well beyond the college season this summer.

Nix spent the summer pitching in the Perfect Game Collegiate Prospect League in Batavia, New York. He helped his team capture the league championship while gaining valuable experience against high-level collegiate competition.

That summer experience, combined with his work at Rend Lake, has helped put Nix in position to take the next step in his baseball career.

Now, with his commitment to Dayton in place, Nix can turn his attention toward finishing his Rend Lake career on a high note before beginning the next chapter with the Flyers.

For a pitcher who has continued to develop since his days in a Salem uniform, the journey is far from over. The next stop will be Dayton.
